It's April Fool's Day, arguably the biggest day of site traffic every year for Toon Zone / Anime Superhero. And not only is the site down, but there aren't enough people on this temp site to be pulling good running gag and joke threads with each other.
I still believe Anime Superhero is coming back. I would have been informed differently if it weren't. But I don't feel like its biggest day should pass us by without ANY acknowledgement of that at all.

The loss of the forums could be clouding my judgment, but a quick glance on Twitter and it’s the same jokes as last year and the year before.
Used to love this holiday, and I don’t think anyone’s too cool for April Fools but I’m also just tired.

It's true. But there is no denying Anime Superhero is a BIG part of that experience for most of us, even those of us tired of it. But the problem with April Fool's on the internet is the pure laziness of most of the clickbait fake headlines. It could potentially be a day of great creativity. The first April Fool's on Toon Zone, where the site went all out on Bizarro Toon Zone and went to the trouble of actually changing the forum names and giving the mods temporary gag names was fun as HELL. And every year people on the site try to live up to that and just can't because not only is that level of creativity currently absent, but the level of commitment from the mods has changed. Several of the major boards no longer even permit April Fool's Threads. I can't imagine what Bizarro Toon Zone would have been like nearly 20 years ago without the participation of the DC Animation Board. The stricter standards on Toon Zone are normally a good thing to prevent flame wars and trolling. For the creativity of the site's biggest day, it's suffered a little.
Is this the first Toon Zone related April Fool's thread devoid of jokes? I feel like as far as tributes go, I'm doing it wrong.

Yeah I feel like if the site was back up by now, there’d be at the very least a few threads locked down within the day of people wanting to take the piss.
As apolitical as I try to be, I never fully agreed with them banning any discussion relevant to politics altogether. They don’t need me to agree with them, though. It’s their site, and they’ve done a decent job airing trolls out quickly.
I hope for the best whenever the site does come back, they’ll allow people to criticize the shutdown situation constructively.

I actually agree with the political ban, but only because I was there when the shit went down. One of the mods made a string of inappropriate and brutally thoughtless comments in a political thread. He shocked not just me, but the posters he was debating with. Modship is like tenure however, so he didn't get banned or anything or even lose the modhood, but if he had been a regular poster he would have been banned. And the other mod who ran the political threads was super unhappy and banned political discussion on the spot. Apologies were made to posters on the other end of that bile but really, if a freaking moderator can't discuss politics like a decent human being, what are the chances for the rest of us?
I often have political opinions in my various reviews, if the material I review calls for it. And I am very grateful to the mods for the leeway there. And I don't think an off-handed comment here or there should be a big deal if people decide to let it slide. It's the discussion and debates that really cannot work on that site, with the rules being what they were.
And speaking as a person who argued on the left, the rules did not favor my side in any way. I felt the first mod I mentioned was working the refs. Anytime somebody pointed out the personal hypocrisy of Christians excusing the things they did during the Trump era, it was called "a personal attack". Basically the rules of the political debate thread were that if you lie or argue in bad faith, that's just your opinion and allowed. If you point out the person is deliberately gaslighting, even when they are, that's a personal attack. I didn't feel like arguing politics while those rules were in place. They favored liars and hypocrites.
