A promo surfaced for the new series by Genndy Tartakovsky.
Very sweet, I honestly wasn’t expecting this so soon. May 4th!

Wait... It's premiering on Adult Swim?! I thought it was coming to Cartoon Network.

Genndy’s had a big pull with the [as] crowd ever since the Samurai Jack return so it doesn’t surprise me that much.
It’s nice for them to be ahead of HBO Max on all this as well.

Promos online are now being flagged down left and right. The original post received over 5K likes and hundreds of thousands of views within the span of an hour.
While it’s still March, quite ridiculous to do that when there’s obvious fanfare. Oh and, it’s an ad.
It’s hardly even a matter of free exposure. When a unofficial account does a better job at being your marketing campaign than your own marketing campaign, that’s on you.

The hour-long premiere begins tonight, and there will be plenty of reruns.
Thursday at midnight (premiere) Friday at 7PM Saturday at midnight (Toonami) Sunday at 7:45PM (ACME Night)
You know, I think I understand now why this is airing on Adult Swim--CN wouldn't have a clue how to properly schedule the reruns (or if they even will).

I don’t like that midnight Thursday premiere slot, but you’re right that it could’ve been exceptionally worse under CN.
Hoping the show lives up to the hype. Eric Andre season six is premiering next month and I’m surprised not as many people are raving about it.

Episode 7 (which premieres on June 8) will be 45 minutes long, as Toonami recently revealed on Facebook.

Nice. I’ve just been absorbing the show and enjoying the narrative.
Episode 4 is my favorite so far, a lot more action going on there.

Now that I’ve finished the whole season (series?) for myself, I can pour out some thoughts I’ve had throughout the run.
Mystical wizardry and sorcery isn’t typically my thing. But at the very least, I was always going to give this a shot on count of Genndy’s track record.
It started out as a slow burn. Not many people at first were all that favorable of the main characters.
The animation, along with the pre-S5 Samurai Jack esque humor were both an instant plus.
It wasn’t until about the 4th episode where I really started to see the wheels spinning. From then on, the narrative became stronger and stronger.
The 7th episode was simply the best of the entire run. It ended up being a better finale than the one we just received, which you could say is unfair because “The Heart of Kings” had a 45 minute run time. But the finale was left sadly unresolved.
Maybe they’re gambling on a season two.
If they don’t continue on with UWE, it would only leave a bad taste in my mouth about Primal being able to go on yet again.
Which is another thing: Primal fans out there felt like this was a downgrade because of the rating limitations. Which, wasn’t “limitations” something Primal as a series would pride itself on? Since forever???
I love both, but it was sooooooo refreshing to see some dialogue present in Genndy’s work again. I think by the end of Primal S2 they were getting tired of that rule and had Spear speak out Mira’s name.
Thats not to say UWE didn’t have some major problems of its own by the end.
The fox lady was a villain to be feared.... then they got tired of using that form.
The Melinda & Seng ancestors meant to be chosen.... they showed up at the very end as fanboys. It was great that they helped Emma out, and even showed us just how Emma’s grown as a person to where she’s more worthy than the both of them; all while in her normal body. But, y’know? Did they have to outright disappear for the rest of the season?
Even the little love triangle they were pushing was done so for nothing.
I actually liked Edred while everyone else was saying he sucks.
Winston showed himself to be one of the most admirable characters as well. Even without counting the transformation to werewolf, Winston was the most determined to take back Emma. Edred never had the determination, all he ever did was tease and bitch until he realized that incarnation of Melinda wasn’t for him. Then he just started sulking about it like a baby.
If there was anyone on that show who really had a resolved arc, it would have to be Alfie-Seng.
Alfie started out as an alley kid who was wrongly chosen to take on Seng’s spirit. He was told everything would make sense by the end. The powers gave him joy and wonder throughout the journey, and once time within the realm kept slipping: Seng aged into a strong warrior.
Something about this fight gave Seng a better, more defining purpose, and I really wish that could’ve been explored more.
It’s unfortunate the show’s done for now. This has the new record of being the most rushed Genndy Tartakovsky narrative yet. While at the same time, this is just about the only current worthwhile [as] program, and I still had an exceptionally good time with the series.
Oh yeah and by the way, fuck that Thursday midnight premiere slot. It’s possible that stupid decision singlehandedly killed the show.

After watching the season finale, I just have to say this... I miss 13-episode seasons. I really do. It feels like every new animated series nowadays is getting 10 or even 8-episode seasons, and it's starting to hurt the pacing of these stories.
It wasn't so bad with Samurai Jack and Primal, since Genndy's series tend to be light on plot, relying instead more on atmosphere, but UWE is his most densely packed narrative yet, and it felt like it had to rush through so many plot threads to get to this final twist. This season really needed a full 13 episodes to give more breathing room to the parts of the story that I feel were barely given any time to explore.
