Charles Martinet, who has been the voice of Mario for 27 years (or 31 if you count Mario Teaches Typing), is stepping down as his voice actor, in a recent statement by Nintendo.
Martinet's new role as Mario Ambassador will be to go on global tours promoting the character, but he will not voice him in the games moving forward.

Saw this before and it is quite a statement.
While I’m not an avid fan or real fan for that matter, and I don’t recall Mario having heavy lines beyond “WAHOO,” he’s still iconic.
That role is something I thought he would’ve done up until death, but honestly, good for him. The most loyal and commendable voice actors refuse to quit even in seniority, and he wouldn’t keep moving along with that company if he didn’t truly love what he does.
