Breaks my heart to inform that the legendary Don Kennedy passed away last Thursday. Just a couple days ago. www.ajc.com/news/obituaries/officer-don-kennedy-atlanta-childrens-show-host/GC55KVD6KJAAXCVQBPMAAG34KQ/He had a long battle with dementia after his 2015 stroke. He was pretty much off the radar for many years, I assumed just because of retirement. Kennedy was an old school entertainer. His legacy with Turner/Williams Street dates back to not just the launch of Adult Swim, but also the run time of Space Ghost Coast to Coast throughout the 90s. During the Golden Age in ‘06, I’d even see him gracefully spitballing Family Guy promos for the network.
Long after Adult Swim started implementing MA rated content, Kennedy took on the title role in arguably the most extreme Aqua Teen Hunger Force episode to date: Rubberman. As Kennedy was about 80 years old, he joyously took on the role of Lance the duck. Made from used condoms. Don Kennedy was a pure gem in the beating heart of Atlanta based talent, and he will be sorely missed.
