[
Saving Face]
So, I’ll be honest. I didn’t get what I want out of this mid season finale.
I liked the beginning where Stan went into one of his self-absorbed episodes.
Problem is, they completely killed this off for me less than halfway in by ditching Stan’s voice. The hobo gag was good, but not the rest of the episode without the actual voice.
Loved the stereotypical cops. Tuttle also saves this for a bit. The villain, plus the backstory isn’t half bad either. Plot was weird/entertaining enough to be feasible.
But again... they nuked this by dumping MacFarlane from Stan less than 10 minutes in.
Roger chasing the Apple made for some fun. I like when the show dwells on this type of humor, although sometimes it’s apparent they just give the lead 25 seconds or a minute to just go with the BS, and that’s sort of what Roger’s thing was.

Forgive me for one of my hysterics, but honestly? It’s starting to become more and more noticeable that maybe American Dad hasn’t had the best luck keeping up with MacFarlane’s schedule.
Last week I even jokingly mentioned how FG would get their money’s worth from Stan’s shingle gimmick.
Now that ended up being a Francine-centric episode, but you should also factor in earlier this season when they wired Stan’s jaw shut and got by only using a few Seth grunts for the rest of the episode.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying they’ve rendered him close to nothing. Just that recent years, they’ve placed the rest of the cast on more high of a pedestal while you can sometimes give or take with the two primary roles.
Even when FOX was so ready to forget American Dad ever existed, Seth was at least all over that regardless of everything else. But that was 10 years ago.
How bad’s the American Dad gig been for him these days? I mean 20th Century still produces and all, but TBS/Warner Bros Discovery is what pays him just for voice acting on that show, right?
Weitzman even alluded to this back in April by saying Seth’s always skated along with just the voiceover credit. On top of mentioning how much TBS has this show in the toilet.
www.awn.com/animationworld/epochal-success-and-inexhaustible-creativity-american-dadYou can laugh all you want, but I’d still be wary of this stuff. Especially when this Strike comes into play.
Like the Mooninites, no one should ever forget 2007. It was absolutely horrible just with FOX.
